Empowering Communities for Justice and Peace.
Building a brighter future inspired by the legacy of S.J.V. Chelvanayakam.
Our History & About CMT
The Trust’s journey began with the legacy of S.J.V. Chelvanayakam, a leader known for his unwavering commitment to equality, justice, and non-violence. Over the years, his family and supporters established institutions to preserve his ideals, from the Thanthai Chelva Memorial Trust (1982) to humanitarian partnerships supporting refugees and resettlement.
In 2010, after Sri Lanka’s civil war, the family founded the Chelvanayakam Memorial Trust (CMT) to empower new generations through education, socio-political awareness, cultural programs, and peacebuilding. Today, CMT continues to honor his legacy by working directly with communities emerging from decades of conflict.
Join us in creating a just and peaceful society where all identities are respected and empowered.
Together, we can continue the work of S.J.V. Chelvanayakam and ensure his legacy inspires generations to come.
